About Richard E. Pigg What I know about Richard is that he was a lifelong resident of Ellis County, having been born here, attending schools here, attending the A&M College of Texas ( now Texas A&M University), graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Husbandry in 1958. He served in the US Army and US Army Reserve culminating as an instructor with the US Army Reserve in Dallas. Since then he was a teacher and mentor to many associated.
He was so proud of his wife and children as well as other children in his area of living. But maybe his most lasting legacy was his interest in supporting of Texas A&M University. He accomplished this in so many way. Through the years he would transport high school students to visit the Texas A&M campus in College Station to allow each to behold and take in the benefits of Texas A&M. |
He then became a charter member of the Ellis A&M Club which included all of western Ellis County and worked tirelessly to insure the the legacy of Texas A&M was carried on in our area. He served in many capacities, but never wanted to be at the forefront of what the club was accomplishing. He participated in the Scholarship Golf Tournament, tho' not a golfer, and served in the Scholarship selection committee to always put the best effort to help select students who would follow in his footsteps.
We have been so blessed to have known and worked with Mr. Richard E. Pigg, Texas A&M's Class of 1958. He will be sorely missed. And now God has him in his final home.
